What are you thankful for?

As we approach Thanksgiving and the holiday season, it beguiles my mind to wonder: What are you thankful for?  With the dreadful economy, I am sure that people have had better times and more to be thankful for at past Thanksgivings.  But it is in the hard times that we need to remember what it is that makes our lives better.  What is it that keeps us going when everything around us seems to be crumbling?  As this Thanksgiving draws near, I feel very thankful for creativity.  Of course, family tops my list as well as a roof over our heads, two vehicles that run, and my husband having a good paying job so he can provide for our family, but without creativity, I would be lost.  I feel that I am a very creative person and I love finding inspiration for my next project.  I love projects!  Crafts are the only thing that makes me really feel like me.  I can express myself wholly and completely.  However, I have to say that the number one item on my list of thankfulness is the toothless grin of my almost 3 month old and the laughs of my mischievous boys.  I love it when my baby gives me his gummy smile.  I love his chubby cheeks.  I absolutely love his little giggle when I tickle his toes.  I love my older boys’ deep laughs.  I love their imaginations when they tell me stories.  And I love hearing their little voices recite books they have memorized from all the times of snuggling on the couch reading together.  Yes, this Thanksgiving, I have much to be thankful for.
Now, what are you thankful for?  I want you to tell me what it is that makes you thankful this Thanksgiving.  How about we make this a contest?  Yes!!  What a great idea!  Here’s how it will work: the person with the most compelling thankfulness story I will award a $5 Starbucks gift card!  How awesome is that?  I will work out the details on how to get the card to you later, but for now, get to writing!  I will keep this at the top of my blog for now so you can find it easily.

  2. It occurs to me at this time of the year that we have many things to be thankful for. From our new baby boy to our two big boys that are learning amazing new things everyday to the beautiful soft snowfall out the windows. Although it can be very stressful on the surface if you take a closer look we are truly living a blessed life. I am very thankful for the family I have and the opportunities that I have had.

I, too, am thankful for the roof over our heads and two good jobs. I'm thankful that we are afforded free time to pursue lots of activities and dreams. I'm thankful for my puppy because she is a sweet little girl who bring me lots of joy. I'm thankful for my health and that my body stands up to what I ask of it without injury (knock on wood). I'm thankful for my husband's support, kindness and sense of humor. I'm thankful for the simple joys - fresh tomatoes out of the garden in the summer, fresh eggs daily from our little flock of chicks and a perfectly prepared whole wheat pesto pasta with a slice of artisan bread. I'm thankful that I had the time I did with those I've loved and loss.

Thanksgiving is such a wonderful time of year! Family, food, precious memories that never fade. There are so many things of which a person could go through and list. Every year I remind myself of all these blessings. But what does it really mean to be thankful? Who are we giving this thanks to? Where does this bounty come from? My thanks belongs to Jesus Christ. He is the True Giver of all things and it is to Him that I am so very grateful to for all the MANY blessings in my life. I do not know where I would be in life without the Lord Jesus right there with me every day. I always feel as if there would just be too many things to name for which I am thankful, but having given my thanks to Jesus Christ sums it all up quite accurately!

1 Thessalonians 5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving! We love you all! xoxoxo

I am thankful for everyone who puts up with me and loves me, especially my God... I am so imperfect yet he loves me enough to give his life for my sins... How thankful I am..
